I've noticed that I haven't had a lot of feedback lately. :(  So please let me know if the comments feature is broken or anything, or if you're mad at me for any reason.  :)  You can email me at theodysseytimes@yahoo.com.

Sorry. Your comments are working. I just haven't really had anything to say yet. I guess I can say that you should go listen to the new Official Podcast at whitsend.org. :)

OK, thanks Christian. Just thought it was strange that all the feedback stopped all at once. :)

I actually really like engaging in theological discussions like this, Luke. And since I've gotten your permission, I'll dive right in. ;)

I don't know what you believe, but I take the stance that I think is very obvious in Scripture. In the Old Testament, Moses allowed the men of Israel to divorce their wives with a certificate of divorce if they found something they didn't like about them. We see this concept in Deuteronomy 24:1. This is pretty much what our culture today thinks is okay.

But in Matthew 5:31-32, (forgive me, I use the NIV) Jesus says, "31 “It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’ 32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery."

That's exactly what I believe. Unless a husband or wife has slep with someone of the opposite or same sex other than their spouse, there is no biblical grounds for divorce. And even if someone is forced to divorce, they become an adulterer, and cannot lawfully marry someone else or that person also becomes an adulterer.

God created marriage to last a lifetime: "In sickness and in health, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer." It was designed to demonstrate the relationship we have with Jesus, our Bridegrooom. And, touching on another hot issue in our culture, marriage is only to be between one man and one woman, no exceptions, period. God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve, and whenever homosexuality is mentioned in the Bible (Leviticus 18, 1 Corinthians 6, Genesis 19, etc.), it is shown as a heinous sin, and is not given as an option because "that's how God made me."

Hopefully you see why I hold to those views. I hope you're somewhere along the same lines. Always feel free to ask me questions like that. I'd be happy to answer them. : )

@Christian: I totally agree with all you said on this issue. Though we do disagree on certain things, I'm glad we found something we agree on. It makes me sick to think of all the perversion in the world today. The devil takes all that God has made for good (i.e. marriage) and has twisted it to turn it into something grossly disfigured. I still don't see how anybody of the same sex could do what they are doing. It just about makes me want to puke. The homosexuals say that we have to be "tolerant" of their lifestyles yet they are not one bit tolerant to Christian beliefs. The only thing more I will say is that God abhors homosexuality, that is one of the main reasons why he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.

Christian A. ( January 27, 2011 at 2:24 PM )

Exactly right. I also feel like hurling when I see and hear of what homosexuals are doing. It is so disgusting and ridiculous! And not only they, but our culture think it is hateful for us to say that what they are doing is wrong. We are looked at as religious wackos just because we stand for what the entire world has known is right until just recently. It's just ridiculous.

And I'm glad you agree with me about divorce. I just wish more people did. I recently heard that the divorce rate is higher in the "church" than outside!! That is a horrible witness to the world. We Christians of all denominations really need to start changing things and getting our act cleaned up. We don't look any different from the world, and, in this case, we look worse! That is not good at all. But God says that "If My people who are called by My Name will humble themselves and pray, then I will hear them and heal their land." That's exactly what we need to do and have done right now.

Tim B. ( January 27, 2011 at 9:28 PM )

@Christian: If we really did humble ourselves and pray, the church world would be in a much better shape. What we need is some people that will stand for God's Word no matter what the cost.

Luke ( January 28, 2011 at 4:16 PM )

Yeah I do agree with you guys. Except, I'm not sure about the thing you said about divorcing because of sexual immorality, I do believe there is a principal of forgiveness we should follow, but yeah. I don't believe that people should divorce. (Exodus 20:14, Matthew 5:32, 19:9)
