It seems that while more Odyssey blogs have been popping up, some other blogs have been disappearing.  "Living in Odyssey," and the "Odyssey Tattler" seem to be gone from Blogger completely.  When I click on the links from my blog list, these pages show up:

I think they should still stay on the web, even if they aren't updated anymore.  What's going on?  Are these blogs gone forever?

The new covers for the rest of the Passages books are out.  Here they are:

Fendar's Legacy

Draven's Defiance

I received an email from Brock Eastman today.  It had a lot of exciting news.  Here's some of the stuff he said:
  • They're gonna tell us how to get #53 absolutely free!
  • Volume 54?
  • Two collections in 2011?
  • What they are doing for the 25th anniversary?
  • Lots of repacks and cover artwork.  A new omni book for 8-12 year olds?
  • Also he said if you'd like to see a new book in the Passages series, then get fans to buy the existing books, and to write them and tell them that you'd like to see this addition the AIO series.  I'd encourage you all to do this!
Pretty cool!  Can't wait for updates on this stuff.

The Odyssey Vision:  Started by Tim who frequents the Odyssey Scoop.  Has news and reviews.  Hmmm...That rhymes. :)

Ask Luke #2

Thanks everybody for the q's (Including Brittney's who I answered in the last post.)  We'll start with Marvin's:
1. How far would music go to become "devil music" in your opinion?  We don't listen to some of the stuff that even like the Gaither Vocal Band sings.  I don't think it's bad for other people to, but my dad doesn't like it personally.  We don't like rock, hip-hop, country, heavy metal, CCM, ect.  2.  What Bible translation do you prefer?  KJV mostly, but I don't think it's wrong to use other translations.  We have several.  3. Which Odyssey character would be the absolute worst to lose from the show?  That's kind of a hard question to answer.  Connie, Wooton, or Eugene.  4.  Which character, of all the ones that have been dropped so far, was the worst to lose?  Whit, when he was played by Paul Herlinger, or the Washingtons. 5.  What Odyssey album is your favorite?  I really couldn't say.  My favorite periods are the early albums (#2-#25) and #35-#46.

Now to Jessa's:
1.  How long have you been listening to AIO? Most of my life.  2.   How many albums do you have?  I'm only missing like three of the audio series albums, and most of the special albums (like "For God and Country")  I don't have.  3. Have you listened to all of the episodes?  Most of them.  (I haven't heard all of the banned or Odyssey USA episodes.)

If you have more questions, just let me know.

OK, Brittney, here's the answers to your questions.  1.  A couple years ago at Youth Camp.  2. Once in a while (for a youth service or something) I play the piano.  I also report the attendance. 3. Not officially. :)  There was once a girl who I liked and we hung out.  4. Ben - 12, Ethan - 9, Evan - 6, Adam - 5, Caleb - 2, Levi - Several months.

If anybody has any questions just leave them in the comments.

I was looking forward to hearing this episode.  It sounded like it would be pretty interesting.  But when I heard it, I was disappointed.

The whole Parker family was pretty obnoxious, with maybe the exception of Matthew.  Camilla didn’t seem to know a thing, Olivia was her usual annoying self, Matthew didn’t want to work and came up with a ridiculous way to clean the dishes, David was portrayed to look like a dummy, and Eva was…well Eva.  I don’t have much to say about her, actually.

I’m not sure why all the kids in Odyssey feel the need to disclose all their personal life to Mr. Whittaker.  I would be pretty embarrassed, if I walked up to a man I knew and said, “Yeah the other night we got grounded because we watched a bad movie, and disobeyed our parents, and lied to our babysitter, and let this huge dog into the house and let him trash the place.”  You shouldn‘t tell people things like that.  It just makes them think that you’re bad kids and that you need a spanking.

The kids were very…bad.  I mean come on, a banana fight!  I am so sure.  Letting the dog lick out the pots and pans!  That is so exaggerated.  Think about it, do you know any kids who would waste perfectly good bananas…in a food fight…in the kitchen…with the baby-sitter right upstairs?  The writer was trying to hard to come up with a way to make the kids be irresponsible.  Now I might see a kid watching a bad movie, like Camilla did, but all the other things were sooo unrealistic.

I would like to point out something about the movies while we’re on the subject.  Have you ever noticed that in Odyssey, the “bad” movies are always about something slimy, or maybe they’re about aliens.  (For example in “All the Difference in the World” Danny watched “Slime Creatures from Sludge City.”)  I just think those are lame titles.  I think they should come up with better names.  For example in the comic books Calvin and Hobbes, when Calvin wants to watch a bad movie, or when he reads a scary book, the titles are something like “Cuisinart Murderer of Central High,” or “The Monster That Waits In Your Backyard to Dismember You.”  (Some other books that Calvin reads are named “Hamster Huey and the Gooey Kablooie” and “Commander Coriander Salamander and’er Underhander Bellylander.”  (I thought that was humorous.)  I’ll get back on subject now, though.  That was just a thought.

Here’s a few other things I noticed:  For one, when the dog got into the house, it got very loud.  I noticed this in A Christmas Carol, too, when there was a thunderclap.  It scared me half to death.  Focus really needs to level their sound some way.  Also this episode reminded me of “Grandma’s Visit” in that all the Parker kids told Whit the story after it happened.  The last thing I’ll point out is that the end was kind of weird when we found out that the nanny wasn’t really English, but was actually an actor.

There was one, maybe two scenes, that made me laugh.  This was one of the worst episodes in #52 (along with “Opposite Day,” “Wooton’s Broken Pencil Show,” and probably “A Thankstaking Story.”  I haven’t listened to all of this story yet.)  My rating would have to be one out of five stars.

Rue the Day! Part 2

Despite my thoughts before I listened to this episode I actually enjoyed it.  I was checking my Facebook and stuff while I listened to it, but I managed to take some notes off it.  I’ll go back later and pay more attention to the stories within the episode.

This episode had some great humor.  In the beginning of the episode I was like, “Oh brother,” at some of the stuff they said.  Like when Wooton was talking about the “concussion game.”  But I did enjoy the rest, like when Jay started his “Rue the day!” lines again, and when Connie told the mayor she wanted to watch the parade on TV.

The acting was pretty good too (with the exception of Whit maybe)  I loved Jay’s Uncle’s bad guy voice.  I loved the mayors voice too.  I didn’t really care for Connie’s voice but I never like her when she sounds like that.

My favorite song on here was probably the one that stated “We are the bad guys.”  The rest of the music was pretty good.  One of them sounded too honky-tonk or something.  One of the other Blogger’s mentioned Connie’s ringtone and said something along the line that Focus would probably get complaints for playing the “devil’s” rock music.  Though I am against the “devil’s” rock music, I didn’t think that the ringtone was out of hand.  It was a common-sounding cell phone ringtone and I certainly wouldn’t complain about it.

One other note was the spoof’s they did.  I’d have to go through and listen again but the one’s I can remember are the Dr. Seuss spoof and possibly one about Mr. Magoo and the Grinch.  Also Peachey Keen pointed out that they had one about the Great Pumpkin (Bumpkin) on Charlie Brown.

I’d give this episode 3½ stars.  Great humor, good story, awesome voices, cool songs.

Whit has decided that working at Whit’s End is too tiring.  So he decides to take a break and become…a mailman!  So he asks Bob (from the Official Podcast) and Connie Kendall to take over.  But when they agreed to take over they never realized that their ideas for managing the shop would differ so greatly.  Bob wants to put in a superhero exhibit, and Connie wants to do a princess theme.  And when they try to find Whit to help them work out their differences, he’s nowhere to be found.  When things start to get out of hand, will the kids at Whit’s End be able to locate Whit before it’s too late?  Featuring themes in getting along and freedom of speech.  Includes a behind-the-scenes look in the studio and a special song by Eugene entitled “Why Can’t All God’s Children Get Along” a knock-off of the real song of the same title.  Stories include:
  1. Bob Comes to Town
  2. Goodbye Mr. Whittaker
  3. All the Difference in the World (Revisited)
  4. Gone With the Wind
  5. The Big Blowup
  6. Find Mr. Whittaker!
  7. Situation Resolved
  8. It’s My Choice!
  9. Wonderworld (Revisited)
  10. Gangbusters
  11. The Underworld Part 1
  12. The Underworld Part 2

Opposite Day

Sunday, November 7, 2010  |

Add a Comment  |
In my opinion, “Opposite Day” was one of the worst episodes in #52 Cause and Effect, for several reasons. For one, Barrett’s voice changed. This was one of the worst things, I think, in the new AIO season. I know that other actors voices have changed, but I didn’t really care, probably because when they did change, I didn’t listen to Odyssey very much. For example, when I heard the episode’s where Jimmy Barclay’s voice changed, there were many other new Odyssey stories out, and I was used to his voice. But now that I listen to Odyssey a lot, and I remember when Barrett first came on the scene, I really dislike the change. When Barrett appeared in “Game For a Mystery,” he was really annoying. But then his voice seemed to get less squeaky, and he seemed to mature (in “When You’re Right, You’re Right” and “Stage Fright”). And when I listened to “Opposite Day,” two things contributed to him sounding foolish again. As I said, his voice changed, but he also was logged onto, or talking about Club KidChat for the entire episode. (This was very similar to his first episode where he was addicted to his video game.) I don’t think I will ever like his voice change, and I guess I’ll have to be satisfied with the two episodes where he really did a pretty good job.

Another thing that I didn’t like about this episode was the characters that played a major role. Besides Barrett, there was Olivia (who I can’t stand), and a new character named Amber - a geeky, obnoxious girl, who likes computers, rocks, and bugs. We’ll start off with Amber. I’ll just say, right now, that if she is going to be a recurring character, I’ll scream. I don’t generally like geeky boy characters (such as Isaac Morton), but having a geeky girl character somehow seemed to make the whole thing worse. And when AIO combined her personality and voice, with Barrett and Olivia’s personality and voice, they just ruined the episode.

I will point out that this episode can be a good reminder to people, since everybody is on Facebook, today, updated their status, and adding and chatting with their “friends.” It is a good reminder to stay focused on our real relationships, with our real friends. Still it was a bit unrealistic, because most people’s Facebook “friends” are their friends in real life. All of my Facebook friends are people I’ve met before. But that doesn’t mean that meeting people on the internet is bad. One of my best friends is one that I met on the internet, by means of our AIO sites and email.

I guess I’ll wrap up this review by saying that this was one of my least favorite AIO episodes, and that I’d give it the lowest rating possible. It was unrealistic, it’s characters were annoying, and I only laughed at one scene. I’ll give this episode a 1 out of 5 star rating. (Assuming that 1 star is the absolute lowest rating possible.)

#52 Cause and Effect

Monday, November 1, 2010  |

Add a Comment  |
I’ve finally received # 52 Cause and Effect.  I couldn’t wait to receive this album, and once I received it, I found that it was pretty good.  (Probably better than #51 Take it From the Top.)
This album brought about some changes to Odyssey.  One major complaint was that Barrett Jone’s voice changed.  I hated this part.  Just when he was sounding more mature, his voice changed, and he acted like a total idiot.
Another surprise was that the album brought back Priscilla Peterson, who I thought wouldn’t be a permanent character.  It seems that she will be in AIO a lot from now on, which I don‘t really mind.
It seems that Focus on the Family is trying to return to their roots.  Some of the episodes in this album seemed that AIO was trying to make the series more like it used to be.  (For example “Fast As I Can”  The only new character was Matthew Parker.  And it just had more of that Odyssey feel.)
I’ll give this episode a 31/2 out of 5 star rating.  My favorite episodes were, “Stage Fright,” “Fast As I Can,” and “The Owl-napper.”  (I haven’t fully listened to “A Thankstaking Story,” but I think it will be pretty dumb.)
I would like to thank Tyndale for providing me with a free copy of #52 Cause and Effect to review for the blog network.  You can buy the album from cbd.com or amazon.com

"Fast As I Can" Review

My Review for “Fast As I Can”:

Things I Liked:

  • This episode was really funny.  I liked the part where Wooton told how he was going to fast junk food.  There was lots of humor in this episode, such as Mrs. Randolph offering Wooton lots of cakes and sweets, and Eugene giving a speech with words containing no more than two syllables.
  • I also liked the part where Matthew went into the Imagination Station and Thomas Jefferson had a computer and email and stuff.

Things I Disliked:

  • I didn’t have many complaints about this episode.  The only things were that I don’t how everybody yells and hollers when they take a trip in the Imagination Station.  And the other thing was that Connie fasted make-up.  I think she should fast make-up permanently, but I won’t go into that…

Notes:

  • This episode certainly had a better spiritual lesson than some.  Fasting is almost never talked about.
  • I noticed that we had another bird in this story. (a duck)  We had a bird in Game For a Mystery, For the Birds, Stage Fright, The Owlnapping, The Malted Milkball Falcon, and then in this story, Fast As I Can.

I’ll give this episode 4 out of 5 stars.

Here's my review for "Stage Fright."

Things I Liked:

  • I LOVED Mr. Stolfitz’s voice.  It was awesome!  (Until the end, when his voice changed and sounded more like Captain Absolutely)
  • I’m glad Priscilla is back.  (Her voice sounds familiar, but I can’t think of who it sounds like.  Maybe someone from youth camp.)
  • There were a few parts in this episode that were funny, and made me laugh, such as the Ichabod Crane part.
  • Jay’s first part in the episode was pretty funny.  He sounded very villain-like.
  • Barrett has really matured since his first episode, “Game For a Mystery.”  His voice isn’t as squeaky and whiny.  (His voice sounds kind of like Matthew’s, while Emily’s voice sounds like Priscilla’s.)
  • It was dumb that Emily was the only brave person in the episode, however, I didn’t mind her as much in this episode.  She, also in part of the episode, reminded me of a girl I know, named Angela.  Her voice also reminded me of Julie’s voice, during a part of the episode.

Things I Disliked:

  • Everyone was scared of the “phantom” except for Emily.  I mean really, like pre-teen boys are going to let a girl do something that they won’t do.  And what about the teacher.  She should be the one calming the kids, and reassuring them that their’s no such thing as ghosts, monsters, and phantoms.

Notes:

  • Isn’t it kind of weird for Matthew to be hanging out with Emily all the time?  He really needs to find some friends who are boys.
  • Barrett’s song “Twenty-two Trombones” sounded kind of like a VeggieTales song.  There was also a Thomas the Train Engine accent to Barrett’s voice during part of this song.
  • I wondered, while listening to this episode, how Emily knew Jay’s number.  It’s just kind of weird for her to have the phone number of one of the school bully’s.
  • I noticed that, instead of saying Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Jay said Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hydelberg.  I thought of the VeggieTales video, the knock-off of Dr. Jekyll, named something like Mr. Jekyll and Dr. Who.
  • I also noticed that nobody could say Stolfitz’s name except for Jay.
  • It was kind of weird when Matthew said that a certain pet shop was a good place because they sold hamsters.  Hamsters make a good pet shop?  Maybe it was the same place where Connie’s room-mate got her beta fish, kerplunk. J (Best of Enemies)

I’ll give this episode 3 of 5 stars.

My Review for "Wooton's Broken Pencil Show"

Thursday, October 21, 2010  |

Add a Comment  |
Things I Enjoyed:
  • This episode was funny.
  • Harlow Doyle was back. While I don’t like Harlow Doyle, it’s good to have some old characters back.
  • Captain Absolutely was back.
  • I liked how Wooton took a break for an advertisement, and then it went directly into a real ad.
  • Andre Stojka did a good job as a villain.
Things I Disliked:

  • Wooton isn’t as funny, in my opinion, as he used to be. He’s always saying dumb stuff, like in this episode.
  • It was dumb when Wooton kept playing sound effects and instruments.
Notes:

  • The music that played, when Roundhouse beat up Captain Absolutely, was more contemporary than usual Odyssey stories.
  • The part, when Roundhouse beat up Captain Absolutely, sounded violent for an Odyssey episode.
I’ll give this story a 1½ out of 5 star rating.

Here's the link to a new AIO social network, that Kevin from the Odyssey Tattler made.

Is Focus Being "Mean?"

Thursday, October 14, 2010  |

Over at FAIO, there is a bunch of people commenting on Focus being "mean" and "wanting money."  I don't think that's it at all though.  Focus has to have money to make Odyssey, and they get money by people buying their albums.  If everybody just listens for free, then Focus can't continue it's ministry.

And FAIO has a LOT of listeners.  If you read their October 8th post, you'll see that they have 1000 new visitors each month!  (At least that's what the post says.)  There are over 6000 users!  That's over $150,000 dollars that Focus is losing if all these people listen at the site instead of buying the album!

One of the users said the following "...fotf just wants money? they aren't just christians wanting other people to be christians..."  Another user said this: "Honestly, what is more important to FOTF, to have kids (and adults too!) able to listen to a wonderful show that teaches lessons about the bible, or money..."

A lot of people want the webmaster of FAIO to "fight" FOTF and try to keep the episodes.  But Focus isn't just interested in making money, and they aren't being mean.  They're just trying to make wholesome, quality entertainment for families to listen.  And I for one would rather listen to buy new episodes (and listen to them on the radio) than have access to old ones for free, and have Focus stop making episodes.  I appreciate the comments of Emily and himi34.

Please tell me what you think in the comments.  I'm very interested to know what the rest of the blogger's think on this subject.

I was on the AIO Wiki today, when I found this bit of news.

"...You can find full details of how to submit an endorsement here. While you're there look extra close at the image and you may see something, something from the future..."

Here is the image, that is probably for #53 Green Ring Conspiracy

I assume that is Whit, Matthew, and maybe Connie.  But is that a Ferris Wheel in the distance?  It appears that they're looking at a helmet maybe.

Mystery of the Clock Tower Part 2 Review

Add a Comment  |
Things I Liked:

  • I liked how Matthew tagged along with Eugene during this episode.  It might have made the story better if Matthew had actually helped solve a part of the mystery, and proved to Eugene that he could be useful.
  • I enjoyed the part where Whit and Connie’s cell phone rang at the same time, and they talked concurrently.
  • I kind of liked Oliver Drevell.  His voice sounded like a bad guy’s voice.  Too bad he actually turned out to be one.

Things I Disliked:

  • I was kind of disappointed with the conclusion of this episode.

Notes:

  • The part where Whit, Connie, and Oliver went to Michael’s apartment, and finding out about Michael’s “unhealthy crush” seemed mature for AIO’s target age group.

I’ll give both parts of this episode a combined 3½ out of 5 star rating.

(Note: Tell me what you thought about this episode in the comments!)

First, a backpack filled with money is found in Gower's Field; then, a mysterious man survives a nearby plane crash; and an underworld errand boy has possession of a special cell phone. This new adventure puts your kids' favorite Odyssey characters at the center of intrigue, suspense, and a scheme of international proportions!

Sounds Exciting!  Also the new Imagination Station book is called "Revenge of the Red Knight."

My review for "Mystery of the Clock Tower"

Here's my review for "Mystery of the Clock Tower:"

Things I Liked:
  • I liked the story behind this story.
  • How Alicia and Michael both told the story.

Things I Disliked:
  • Andre Stojka as the voice of Whit, mostly
  • I have mixed feelings about the mayor, Spencer Hicks.  Margaret Faye made some of the episodes really good, even though she was obnoxious and politically correct.
Notes:
  • The end of this episode sound's like something you'd read on the back of a Ted Dekker book. "A wedding veil hanging in a dark, deserted room, with a clock counting down to 11:45 and a lost love."
  • This episode is a mystery, hence the Novacom Saga-sounding music.
  • I think that Andrew may be involved with the mystery somehow.  His scene would be completely unnecessary, otherwise.
Rating:
I'll give this episode a 31/2 - 4 star rating

In Odyssey news, there's a new podcast out that reviews popular radio dramas such as Adventures i Odyssey, and Lamplighter Theatre.  You can visit the site (it's called Audio Theatre Central) here.  Also, Focus on the Family has a new site, where you can download #52 right now! (and albums #1-#51)  Visit that site here.  And thanks to Brock Eastman for the heads up.  In my opinion, the price for each album is too expensive.  You could almost buy a hard copy of the album for that price.  Anyway...

Hello everyone.  I'm sure you all noticed that we have a new template!  We've had the old one since, I think, the beginning of the blog.  I am still in the process of searching for a template that I absolutely love, but this is the blog's new temporary template until I find that one.

In Odyssey news, the summaries are out for the first two Imagination Station books. You can see them here.  Also Peachey Keen has announced the winner of his contest.  And the winner is...me.   #52 is almost here!  I can't wait to hear the new episodes!

Here's the cover art for "Glennall's Betrayal."  It looks very nice.  This is probably my favorite new Passages repackage.

Hello everybody.  We have finally made it to our 100th post!  I'm going to try to change the blog template, possibly, soon.  So be watching!

In Odyssey news, Audrey (writer of AIO Insanity) is going to quit writing for the blog, and start another blog, from the perspective of an Odyssey character.  So go over and vote for which character you'd like to see.  In other news Odyssey has some AWESOME new covers.  (You can look at them below.)  And lastly Peachey Keen is having his contest for new cover art for his blog.

In Odyssey news, the AIO Wiki is having a contest whee you can win #52 or the Novacom Saga.  The AIO Blog has extended the date for their contest, so make sure to enter.  Also the AIO Blog has made some new wallpaper that you can download.  And the new cover for Passages: Annison's Risk is out.  It's pretty cool, except for the girls' hair looks ugly.

This is our 93rd post!  We're slowly getting to one hundred.  Here's some pictures I made.  Wooton and Whit seemed to have change places for a day.  I will possibly make some more pictures soon.  Tell me what you think in the comments.

Be  watching, today for the Odyssey Scoops surprise, and listen to the final part of the Ceiling Fan's "Roadtrip to Find Odyssey" here

By the way, thanks to all the bloggers who mentioned our new Music section.  Keep checking back as we upload more songs.

New Feature - Music!

Today, it’s time to unveil a new feature of our site - Odyssey Music! In this section is Odyssey music cropped from episodes such as the Jubilee Singers, the Great Wishy Woz, and Odyssey Sings! We’ll keep adding songs and perhaps other audio from time to time. You can access the music section at the top of the page. If you notice any songs missing from the page you can submit a list at theodysseytimes@yahoo.com

(Note: It will take us a while to upload all the music to the new page, so keep checking back for more.)  If you'd like to hear the music before it appears on the blog, Visit Archive.org and type in "Adventures in Odyssey"

Here's an example of what you'll find on the "Music" page.

Peachey Keen released his new logo.  It looks very good.

One more thing.  The picture for the back of the Lost Episodes is now out.

We may have some surprises here on the blog, before too much longer, so keep watching.

Hello everyone.  Here's a quick update.  I'm sure most of you know that the 100th Official Podcast is out.  I haven't listened to it yet.  Probably later today.  Also I noticed that Austin and Natasha Peachey, The Odyssey Scoop, and Sarah were the only podcasters to send an audio message.  Oh well.  One more thing.  We now have a glimpse of the back of #52.

The Lost Episodes
It's kind of cool looking, but the blue and green colors don't really match.  What would be cool is if they would draw a new picture to put on the front.
Cause and Effect
I guess it looks okay, but it sure is different.  The picture is cool.  I like the Whit PIC.  He looks more cartoony or something than usual.

Meanwhile I have a new blog out.  This will probably take the place of my personal blog.  I'll try to post on it soon.

Several bits of AIO news has surfaced lately.  There's a new LCD Fan Site out by Peachey Keen.

There was a new Official Podcast released yesterday interviewing Hope Levy. (Voice of Olivia Parker)  And speaking of podcasts, the Ceiling Fan Podcast released a new one continuing the road trip to find Odyssey.

And the Odyssey Scoop has a contest where you can win a copy of the Novacom Saga.

My Cover Art for the Green Ring Conspiracy

Here is the picture I made for the "Green Ring Conspiracy."  Hope you enjoy it and the fake summary.  :)

"There's something strange going on in Odyssey.  A character from the Parkers favorite movie shows up in their back yard!  And it keeps mumbling something about green rings!  Meanwhile things are heating up as the election for mayor fast approaches.  But the race holds some very unlikely candidates including a powerful figure from the White House!

It's up to Whit, Connie, Eugene, and Wooton to figure out what's going on...That is until Whit disappears, Eugene is arrested, and Wooton is kidnapped by...Beth the Barbarian?!

Now Connie joins up with Bart Rathbone and Harlow Doyle to find her missing friends in a deadly race against time.  With lessons in revenge, greed, and deception, this album is sure to be remembered for a long time."

Meanwhile Christian (Voice of Odyssey) won't be back until the new season begins airing.  :(  (He won't explain why.)

New Mayor in Odyssey!

Well it looks like we have a new mayor in Odyssey!  Good riddance to Margaret Faye.  (In my opinion, she was a politically correct, obnoxious, feminist.  But she did add to the show, so I have mixed feelings about her leaving)  The new mayor is a man named Spencer Hicks.  He will be voiced by Dave Fennoy who acted in Passages: Darien's Rise, and Sir Malcolm and the Missing Prince.  You can see his picture to the right.

Now for those of you who didn't see Jacob Isom's June 25th post, here's the picture with the summary:

Due to the popularity of the Adventures in Odyssey franchise in recent years, a special spinoff AIO series has been announced. Set in the familiarity of the town of Odyssey, this post-AIO series will feature the same four core characters fans have come to know and love, with a new host of characters, comedy, and never ending situations. The first collection is called Time for a Change. Here's a sneak peek into the new series geared for the next generation of listeners:

"Change may be too hard to handle for Whit, Connie, Eugene, and Wooton as many of their friends, relatives, and acquaintances seem to have vanished from town--overnight, no less! With Odyssey's windows getting dirtier, a vacant apple orchard on the outskirts of town, a new town bully who uses mental bullying tactics, and culturally-diverse families frequenting Whit's End, adventures are in store for new relationships and morally-challenging situations. Whit's new invention inspires him to overcome his weight problem, and Connie discovers she has what it takes to modernize her wardrobe. Meanwhile, Eugene's world is opening up to new possibilities when his vision returns after he gets a dashing new haircut. Plus, Wooton's idea of "fun" doesn't bode well with the new mayor, and he may be forced to say goodbye to his cherished slide. Follow along with Odyssey's personalities in a new series of adventures--containing lessons in patience, acceptance, and embracing change."

Click here to see a larger view of the cover art. And, by the way, this album is in no way associated with Focus on the Family. There are no plans to release this album in the future and the above blog post is merely a work of fiction…

Very Interesting post and professional looking PIC.  Great job Jacob!

Greetings and Felicitations!  I'm back from camp!  I'll try to upload some pictures as soon as soon as they're available.

It looks like theirs been a lot of Odyssey news in the last few days.  For one thing, we now know what the title for #53 will be.  It's the "Green Ring Conspiracy."  Sounds...mysterious!  It will be another mystery album, like the Novacom Saga.  Personally, I am really excited to hear it.  Another bit of news is, wonder of wonders, Connie Kendall goes to college!  Well it's about time!  Everything is changing a lot in the world of Odyssey.  I'm wondering if she'll stop working at Whits End and possibly move away from Odyssey.  What do you think?  Please comment below with your thoughts.  (By the way, this information was released on the 98th edition of the Official Podcast)

Another bit of older news that was released on Wednesday is that Odyssey now has a slogan.  The slogan says: "IMAGINE  DISCOVER GROW."  Also Ethan Daniels interviewed Bob Smithouser on the Ceiling Fan Podcast.

That's all for today, except to say that there may be some changes around the blog pretty soon.  And if you need to contact me just email: theodysseytimes@yahoo.com.

No more updates...

In Odyssey news, the AIO Blog has a survey that they want to people to fill out (Find out more here), the Heart of Odyssey's new heartcast is available,  and me and FreddyJay be taking over the Odyssey Blogger Committee.  (Find out about that here.)  Most of this news is about 2 days old, and I'm sorry, but keep reading.

Now on to the most important part of today's post.  I'm sorry to say there will be no more posts for about 2-3 weeks since I will be going to youth camp for a week, and then main camp for a week.  But I'll be back after that long absence.  Hopefully, Focus will have the #52 cover available by then.  :)

The Jubilee Singers Review

Monday, June 7, 2010  |

Summary:
A talking portrait of Frederick Douglas tells Olivia Parker the story of the Jubilee Singers.

Things I Liked:
  • I'm glad that the AIO team decided to play the whole Odyssey theme song with Chris's part.
  • I enjoyed the Jubilee Singers' music.  It was very nice.
  • Usually I don't like Red Hollard, but I didn't mind his part in this episode.
  • Mr. Wheeler's lecture of the students grammar was kind of funny.
  • I liked Benjamin's "speech" of his dislike of the condition of the school and the food.
  • I liked Mr. White.  Besides the voice, He stood up to the people who were mean to the students.
  • It was funny when Red Hollard said something like: "Olivia, I bet you're the type of person who reads the end of a book first."  And then Olivia replied with: "No!-Well maybe sometimes."
  • The part where Dr. Wilcott had to admit he was wrong.
  • RED: (Referring to $40,000) "That's a lot of money in those days."  OLIVIA: "That's a lot of money today!"
  • DOUGLAS: "I believe that a gentleman will not insult me, and no man not a gentleman can insult me."  RED: I'll have to ponder that awhile.
Things I Disliked:

  • The interactive portrait of Frederick Douglas was weird.  It was like he was real.
    • I understand that Mr. Billings (the storekeeper) needed money to run his store, but he still sounded kind of mean.
    • I think that the students should have stood up to Matthew's and his friend.  Of course, it did work out in the end.
    • It was kind of dumb for the students to keep their songs hidden up.  Mr. White was trying to help them so they could get an education, and they refused to help by singing their spirituals.
    • I was kind of surprised that Mr. White put up with the train conductor (when he (conductor) didn't let them sit in first-class.)  They could have at least gotten their money back.
    • The hotel owner was mean.
     Notes:
    • Red kind of stepped into Whit's place in this episode, and talked to Olivia, a little bit, about the importance of schoolwork.

    Conclusion:
I've seen that a lot of people liked this episode.  They liked it so much that they gave it a 5-star rating.  And to be honest, I'm not sure why.  In my opinion, this episode was fine…but just OK.  I loved the music.  But the rest…I didn't really care for.  I enjoyed "Target of the Week" and "When You're Right, You're Right" much more.

    Rating: 21/2 Stars

Brock Eastman released a photo recently with a picture of "Cause and Effect" in the background.  You can see the picture here.  Whit and Eugene are definitely in the cover, but I'm not sure about the other person.  I saw that someone said it might be Matthew.  We'll have to wait and see.

In more recent news, the Odyssey ScoopCast 4.5 is out.  Plus they've updated their "Where Odyssey is Not" section.

Hopefully I'll be releasing a podcast this year.  I don't know when, but I'm working on that possibility.

One more thing.  I'll be posting my review for "Jubilee Singers" hopefully later today.

    That's all for now.

Odyssey news is VERY slow lately. You can now vote in the Avery Awards (I like the name) at www.whitsend.org/podcast. I already submitted my vote as well as probably all of you. If you're getting bored waiting for album 52, then you should log onto www.lamplighter.net and listen to the stories they have there. They're really good and professional. We just finished listening to "A Peep Behind the Scenes." Sad, but good all the same. You could also listen to programs, like "Jungle Jam and Friends," "Jonathan Park," (Peachey Keen's been telling me about that one) and "Down Gilead Lane." (Sorry, I don't have any links.) Have a good weekend everyone!

There`s a fairly new radio program out called LampLighter Theatre. Some of the people who have worked on Odyssey, are involved in this, including Jess Harnell, voice of Wooton. I`ve known about this series for some time, and the reason I`m saying all this is because you can download a whole album for free! Go to LamplighterPublishing.com/Theatre.

I really liked this episode of #51:
    • I liked the new characters, especially Vance King
    • I liked also the "Tell him what he won, Jay!" thing.
    • Matthew said that Eugene must have culcers of germs lying around.  That sounds like something Eugene would have.
    • Some of the jokes that were pulled on Matthew were kind of funny.  Hmmm... I have five brothers...
    • Wooton's back!  I love Wooton and his scenes in here were funny.
    Five stars for this episode

    Thoughts on the New Podcast

    Add a Comment  |
Yesterday Focus released a new video podcast showing us how to make a Wod-Fam-Choc-Sod.  Here's some thoughts on the video:
    • The Odyssey aprons were so cool!
    • I want to make a soda just to get the button.
    • I think the soda would be better, however, if it was strawberry or vanilla.  (No, I don't like chocolate ice cream.  Yes, you probably think I'm crazy.)
    • The beginning of the podcast was kind of weird/cool.  The whole fairy tale thing.
If you haven't watched the podcast click here.
